Weight gain during pregnancy is a normal thing, but if it gets out of hand, it definitely becomes something you have to deal with. One of the best ways to really "lose" that extra weight is to have a balanced diet - cravings are common during pregnancy, but balancing that out with fresh veggies, a lot of water, and quite a bit of exercise will help you get through your pregnancy healthier than ever.

Go for swimming and a walk after dinner daily. You can add green vegetables and fruit juice in your diet.

Maybe we can slow down weight gain by taking a walk after dinner,or eat something more healthy rather than fat.

During my pregnancy, I cooked my own meal (mostly vegetables, white meats, fruits), I had no junkfoods in the house (so that I wouldn't be tempted), I drank a lot of water and I walked 30 minutes almost everyday (except the last month). I gained 23 kg during the pregnancy. After giving birth, I had only 4 kg to lose.

Include plenty of vegetables, fiber and fruits in your diet. It really cleanses and makes you feel light and healthy. Walking short distances at evening hours and occasional binging on ice creams and smoothies will never hurt. The best advice on nutrition can be from your doctor who can suggest the best diet and lifestyle corrections for this term of life.

Whey you see your weight spike it's always such a disappointment and when you are pregnant it's doubly hard to stick to eating healthy because you often more hungry.

The best thing is to eat about 6 small meals a day. These can be things like raw veggies, string cheese, fruit, small bowls of cereal, yogurt, etc. Also never eat second helpings during main meals, keep the portions average and try to eat slower. If you have to have something bad go for sugar free puddings or popsicles or dark chocolate, but again eat those things in moderation as well.

Hope that helps,
Elizabeth :-)

I was originally 50kg before I fell pregnant and gained 25kg (yes, half my body weight) during the pregnancy. I think it went everywhere because people always commented on the fact that I didn't have a very big belly. However by the time I got home from hospital I was back down to 55kg. I had a low risk pregnancy and a 4 hour drug free natural birth. So I guess I'm saying... it's ok to gain lots of weight in pregnancy! LoL
